geocoding endpoints overhauled

Dear community,

as you might know, we use the fantastic, famously modular Pelias geocoder. However, previously we didn’t have the time and resources to implement all features and datasets the engine has to offer.

So, we decided to overhaul the entire service completely, which will result in the following improvements:

• New datasets: openaddresses, includes > 400 Mio addresses
• New services:
  • • Text parsers: libpostal and placeholder
    • interpolation service to interpolate missing addresses. A huge benefit!
    • PiP service to speed up reverse geocoding

To be able to do just that, we need to shutdown the geocoding servers from 22.06.2018 06:00 CET to 24.06.2018 22:00 CET. We’re very sorry about this and hope you understand. Things usually get worse before they’re getting better:)
